Before we begin, I’ll need to understand:
The Deliverable - a page on a website, a series of emails, cohesive bios.
The Audience - who is the intended audience for this copy? What do you know about them?
The Action - what do you want the audience to do after reading this copy?
For each deliverable, I engage the six-step, three draft process.
Six Step, Three Draft Process:
1. You deliver to me anything you’ve written/recorded, a completed questionnaire, and the format of the copy you are requesting (sales page, web page, email sales cadence).
2. I deliver to you a spitball draft (hoping for 50% accuracy).
3. We discuss your feedback on the spitball draft during a synchronous call.
4. I deliver to you a rough draft (hoping for 80% accuracy).
5. We discuss your feedback on the rough draft during a synchronous call.
6. I deliver to you a final draft (hoping for 95% accuracy).
Timeline
I work in three intensive bursts. After our initial one-hour scoping call and the receipt of any written/recorded materials I will be able to provide a detailed timeline.
Billing
Projects are billed hourly at a rate of $150/hour*. The amount of work varies depending upon how much material I need to review before drafting, and how much copy you desire as an end result. For example, a sales page takes 10-15 hours total of my work. If you desire an email cadence as additional work, I am happy to deliver rough drafts once I’m familiar with the nature of the work, and anticipate 2 hours per email with no review, or additional time if you prefer the three edit process. In my experience with sales emails that follow a sales page, most clients don’t desire a drafting process, but simply take the deliverables as a ‘final’ draft and tweak their own minor edits.
50% of the minimum hourly range is required to reserve the time on my calendar. With each draft I will update you on how many hours I have used to date, so you can keep track. I will not exceed 15 hours of work on your behalf without your written agreement.
My Dedication
I have strong professional boundaries. Time dedicated to you cannot be interrupted, so you can be confident that the time I’m investing is the very best of what I can offer. I work in 60-90 minute blocks of time, and am unreachable during those windows.
I write for humans, not bots. While I am aware of search engine optimization (SEO) writing techniques, the writing I offer is designed to be read by humans, and I encourage you to consult an SEO professional if you desire to recruit cold leads via search engines.
My Values
I work exclusively with clients who engage with meaningful, passion-driven work. I live a life worth writing about, and I hope you do, too.
Termination Process
You may terminate our agreement after receiving my first ‘spitball’ draft and I will not bill you further. I will retain your deposit, and you will own the draft. If you terminate after that draft, I will bill you for any additional hours.
*rush jobs are billed at a higher rate. As time and space permits, I am occasionally able to offer a scholarship rate for those making a profound impact in communities that are marginalized and underserved.
